Funded Training Requests
Funded Training Requests
Requests for funded training are submitted through the NCWG Form 98, which is due an upcoming redesign, and will be linked here. For the time being, our existing forms remain in use, and can be found here:
Form 98A (Air) Operations Funding Request
Form 98G (Ground) Operations Funding Request
Emergency Services Training takes place under the A5 mission symbol, and is a shared pool of money that is used by all of NCWG each month on a Monthly Training Mission.
Funding Request Process
Submitted requests are routed to the NCWG Emergency Services staff, who will review them and provide a response within 72 hours.
If the request is APPROVED, it will come with an approved funding amount. Approved requests should be entered into WMIRS under the appropriate mission number as soon as possible. Any changes to the date or personnel must be communicated to the NCWG ES staff as soon as possible. Requests not executed within five days of their listed date may be canceled and the funding forfeited, as it is possible that other requests are being held on a waitlist.
A request may be placed into PENDING status for one of several reasons. Requests made too far in advance may be held until closer to their requested date. This is because of the way in which WMIRS allocates estimated funding. If too many pending sorties are entered into the system, WMIRS often overestimates their cost and prevents further sorties from being entered. These requests are approved as funding becomes available, in the order in which they were received. Requests may also be placed in PENDING status if a large amount of funding has already been allocated to a particular unit during a month. This is to ensure that our limited training budget is divided in an equitable way. These requests may be approved later in the month as more funding is available.
Guide to a Successful F98 Funding Request
Adherence to the following guide ensures that our staff has all of the information needed to document the request correctly and justify use of our training dollars.

These fields should contain the contact information of the person responsible for coordinating the request. Ensure that email addresses are typed correctly, or the replies will be lost. The "Alt Email" field can be used for someone else like a training manager who wishes to be copied on these emails. |

Type of Training |
For ES requests, either "Search and Rescue" or "Disaster Relief" should be selected here, as appropriate. |
Search and Rescue |
Start Date |
Select the anticipated date of the requested exercise. Delays happen because of weather and equipment, but please make every attempt to adhere to this date. We cannot guarantee that requests will always be able to be moved to later dates. |
2021 Mar 08 |
No of Sorties |
Please enter 1 here, and submit a separate form for each anticipated sortie. This makes for easier record-keeping if only some of the exercise is able to be completed or needs to be changed. |

NC-143 / Johnston County |
Training Description |
Either select one of the prescribed profiles listed from the NCWG Scenario Library, or provide a detailed, mission-realistic scenario to be exercised. (See Note below) |
NCWG Profile SAR-B |
Aircraft |
Select the aircraft most likely to be used. This helps to estimate the amount of funding required. The form assumes a 1.5 hour flight. |
C182 |
Estimated Cost Per Gallon |
Used for estimating the total cost of the exercise. Please use a realistic estimate of fuel cost, using known fuel costs from the likely source of fuel. |
$4.85 |
Team Names |
Provide names of all participants in the funded exercise |
Joe Smith Jill Jones Bob Wilson |
Notes |
Please provide CAPIDs of above participants here. This allows for easier location of members in the event of misspelled or duplicate names. |

Note: Training Description can be taken from prescribed NCWG Scenarios, which can be found here. If one of these profiles is selected, the F98 request needs only to list the name of the profile. The sortie is then expected to exercise all aspects of that profile in a mission-realistic fashion. Alternatively, this field can be submitted with a detailed description of a customized mission-realistic training scenario, again with the intent of simulating a real-world mission as closely as possible. A fully-detailed description of the simulated scenario, key locations, and expected outcomes is required. In either case, the CAPF 104/109 (air/ground as appropriate), should fully reflect all details of the simulated mission in the briefing and debriefing sections.
