Change of Command at the 111th!

Lt Col Paul Steele relinquished Command of the 111th Search and Rescue Composite Squadron (NC-111) to 1st Lt Dustin Waide during a Civil Air Patrol Change of Command ceremony at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport on 22 April 2021.
 
The ceremony’s presiding official, Lt Col Jeff Focke, Vice Commander - West of the North Carolina Wing, praised Lt Col Steele’s leadership as essential to the squadron's transition to the future and helping to maintain it during his tenure as squadron commander.
 
In accordance with military tradition and heritage, the unit's Colors were passed from C/Capt Carter Maner to Lt Col Paul Steele, Commander for NC-111, symbolizing allegiance to the outgoing commander.  Lt Col Steele then passed the Colors to Lt Col Jeff Focke, Wing Vice Commander, signifying that the unit is never without a commander, and then passed the Colors to 1st Lt Waide symbolizing the entrustment of command.  The passing of the Colors concluded when Lt Waide returned the Colors back to C/Capt Maner denoting that the organization’s Colors stay with the members of the 111th Search and Rescue Composite Squadron.
 
Lt Waide, a California native, previously served as the squadron’s Assistant Deputy Commander for Cadets.
